Laser CAD Designer / Programmer


TS Metals is seeking a skilled and motivated Laser CAD Designer / Programmer to join our growing team. This role is central to ensuring high standards of workmanship while driving continuous improvement across processes, quality, and delivery.

You will work closely with management and production teams to support both operational performance and commercial success, playing a key role in delivering projects from concept through to completion.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of project delivery for both internal and external customers
  • Identify and develop new and existing business opportunities, including preparing and following up quotations
  • Initiate project start-up activities such as order acknowledgements and design reviews
  • Ensure materials and tooling are ordered in line with project timelines and budgets
  • Carry out goods receipt and purchase invoicing activities where required
  • Establish and maintain contract files in line with company procedures
  • Interpret engineering drawings to produce accurate laser cutting programs
  • Create and issue clear work instructions to support production
  • Ensure all products meet required quality standards and customer specifications
  • Participate in contract reviews and cost-to-complete forecasting
  • Manage project close-out activities including documentation, verification, and archiving
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Ensure all finished products are fully compliant and accompanied by accurate documentation and quality packs
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance at all times

 

Your skills and experiences:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong technical capability and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

 

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in laser programming within a laser cutting environment
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, Autodesk, Fusion)
  • Experience producing 2D/3D models and detailed technical drawings
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Knowledge of measurement and inspection techniques
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills, with the ability to work under pressure
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive, driven, and enthusiastic approach

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes
  • Willingness to travel within the UK when required
