Quartzelec provides HV installation and maintenance services to clients throughout the UK. This includes HV construction covering design, erection, testing, and commissioning of new installations and refurbishments up to and including 33kV. We also deliver HV maintenance, ensuring client HV networks are regularly inspected and maintained. Accredited under the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS), we have in-house capability to design, install, test, and commission electrical utility connections for adoption by local DNOs.

Key Responsibilities…

• Provide proposals and technical solutions in collaboration with the HV Operations Manager.
• Manage works to meet client requirements on specification, costs, budgets, and deadlines, reporting progress continuously.
• Ensure clear work instructions are communicated to the workforce.
• Take responsibility for Health & Safety on site, ensuring safe systems of work and compliance with company procedures.
• Manage and control sub-contractors.
• Maintain company quality standards.
• Execute construction and asset replacement projects on 11kV – 33kV distribution networks.
• Work with clients and the HV Operations Team to prepare HV outages.
• Undertake operational, technical, and system safety duties for construction, maintenance, and commissioning.
• Lead and carry out onshore/offshore maintenance scopes.
• Organise and execute HV switching, isolation, earthing, and safety documentation issue on networks up to 33kV.
• Undertake on-site testing and commissioning of HV distribution systems.
• Apply knowledge of HV switchgear and protection system maintenance.
• Training opportunities may be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications Experience and Personal Attributes:

• HNC in Electrical Engineering – Power Distribution (preferred but not essential).
• City & Guilds in HV Operational Safety.
• IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable).
• HV Senior Authorisation status (DNO or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an electrical contracting environment.
• HV Private Networks experience (essential).
• Strong interpersonal skills at all organisational levels.
• Organised, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to remain controlled under pressure.
• Commercial awareness and appreciation of client site impacts.
• Confidence to say no from a technical and safety perspective.
